the new RXM for studios

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Well, May is here and I’m getting geared up for Mountain Biking.  Of course, we, at jump audio, have also been hard at work on new Jump Audio products.  We’ve got a great new idea for a new in-ear monitor accessory… it’s top secret of course.

Not top secret is the new RXM for studios.  It is just a new option on the RXM in-ear monitor system that allows you to pick which type of headphone jack you want.  The normal RXM comes with a 3.5 mm jack and the new option is a 1/4 inch headphone jack.  We figured it would be great for studios who might want to replace or supplement the Pro Co boxes that you usually see.  It is a great little studio in-ear monitor volume control for choirs, orchestra’s, or i guess anyone for that matter.

This year so far… has been great!

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

This year so far has been much better than last year. We have been spending some time marketing and trying to get our packaging together. We have been getting great responses from people who are buying the system. I think it’s harder for a company, like us, that people haven’t heard of to get people interested. However, our products are unique and are very well built… so i hope the word will start to spread.

I’m going to try to post up some early pictures of the Jump Audio operation… i think it would be fun for people to see.

2008 in a nutshell

Friday, December 19th, 2008

2008 was a pretty good year for us, we researched all the parts we needed and started making our first prototypes. At first they were a little ragged but they started to look better and better. We originally had the idea to make a thing we called the Jump Box (which we will eventually make again) however we just didn’t have the resources to make our dream box… it was kind of like a mini mixer, Rolls PM351 crossed with an Aviom or Hear Technologies funtionality meets a Rane AP13 or Fishman Blender… but with built in in-ear monitor capabilities. Hard to explain in a little paragraph but really cool… Perfect for the guy who wants his own mix and the more me option.

We also revised the “Jumper Cable” as we called it. It used to have XLR type adapter with a Y-split, but we decided it was too noisy so we made the cable with a Y split at the end… no adapter.

We spent a bunch of money trying to get the business started and didn’t come close to making it up.

In the Beginning

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

So, in the beginning… let’s say mid 2007, I, Ryan Shupe, was sitting in my car and an idea came to me… I should start a company and sell the in ear products that me and my band mate Craig Miner had developed over the last 6 years for our own band.

Well, it might not have been that easy, but in any case, there was a moment when i realized that we had made something that nobody else had done.

The project started when we were looking at getting our own band on in-ear monitors… which by the way was one of the best decisions we ever made. In any case, we looked at some shure PSM600 wireless in ear monitors (by the way, we decided later that the Sennheiser EW300IEM G2 Wireless was a better system… just for the record) and realized that in order to go wireless it was going to cost us a pretty penny… and we would still have a cable hanging down unless we got a wireless intrument system. Now that would even add more cost to the project. That wasn’t going to fly so we put out thinking caps on…

mmmmmm… why not combine the in-ear signal and the instrument cable into one cable. We looked into it and couldn’t find anyone who was trying to do what we had done, so we patented the idea of course… it was cheap, efficient, reliable.

Pretty soon we had other bands asking us for the system and everyone liked it. So, the next step was to streamline the system and take it to the market. We actually approached some companies and everyone said the same thing. “Good Idea… go try to sell them and let us know how it goes”. So that’s what we are doing.
